At Murdock we look to employ the best in the field. We pride ourselves of having a diverse body of staff. Our barbers come from every walk of life, every corner of the world but all share the same commitment to top-quality barbering and grooming. Our barbers must have an extensive knowledge of trends, style, grooming and of course fashion!

We have 3 different tiers of employment for barbers:

  • Junior Barber
  • Barber

We take on all barbers at either a Junior Barber or Barber level with scope for moving up to Head Barber once you have proven yourself to be motivated, reliable and technically capable over a period of time with us. All Barbers must have NVQ levels one and two in hairdressing to be considered. The NVQ in Barbering is an advantage, but not essential. We provide extensive in-house training on shaving, facial hair, facials and other men’s grooming services. We expect that all our barbers partake in our training programme and are constantly working with our training manager to progress and learn new skills.

We require our barbers to be enthusiastic, hardworking and dependable with a passion for male grooming.

Our 4 locations around London attract a hugely diverse clientele therefore our barbers must have a strong ability to connect with all their clients.

Sales Assistant

Our sales and support staff must have a natural instinct for good customer service, excellent listening skills and an eagle-eye for body language. We expect our staff to act with efficiency, enthusiasm, personal initiative and have a great personality!

Sales and looking after our customers is not all there is to it. You’ll need to be a mean multi-tasker who can balance every aspect of the shop floor – which can get very busy and challenging! You’ll have to keep our shelves fully stocked, maintain and update window displays, log incoming deliveries and use our booking system to manage the barber’s appointments.

Communication is essential to being successful in this role. Excellent interpersonal skills, a confident and clear telephone manner and the ability to respond promptly and politely to e-mails are all a must. Taking responsibility for getting things done and to take pride in doing them well are also essential, as are positivity and energy. We expect you to be friendly, helpful and professional at all times.

Naturally we'’ll train (and expect) you to become an expert in the world of men’s grooming. We will do everything we can to help you progress, learn the world of men’s grooming and reward your accomplishments.

With the support of our in-house, on-the-job training there is rigorous and structured programme to get you up to par on product knowledge and be able to advise and pass-on your newfound expertise to our customers.
